Precise Roofing has handled gutter work across the Denver Metro for more than 20 years, and it goes hand in hand with everything we do on the roof above it. We install new gutter systems, repair sagging or leaking sections, clean out clogged runs, add leaf guards, and rebuild rotted fascia underneath. Whether the job is a single downspout or a full gutter replacement tied to a new roof, we handle it as part of keeping water away from your home instead of an afterthought.
Are your gutters overflowing every time it rains?
Overflowing gutters almost always come down to one of three things: debris clogging the run, a channel too small for the amount of roof water feeding it, or a pitch that lets water pool instead of drain to the downspout. Whatever the cause, the effect is the same. Water sheets over the edge instead of moving through the system, and it lands right where you do not want it, against the siding, the foundation, and the fascia board behind the gutter itself. Left alone, that overflow becomes the reason for the next repair, whether that is rotted fascia, a cracked foundation coating, or a wet basement wall.
Warning signs to watch for
Water pouring over the edge in a normal rain
If water is sheeting over the front of the gutter during an average storm, not just a downpour, the run is either clogged or undersized for your roof. It is one of the clearest signs the system needs a look before the next big rain.
Gutters sagging or pulling away from the roofline
A gutter that dips or hangs loose is usually fastened into hangers that have worked their way out, or into fascia that has softened underneath. Rehanging it without fixing what it is attached to just fails again.
Dark staining or soft spots on the fascia board
Fascia sits right behind the gutter, so repeated overflow soaks into it long before you notice a problem from the ground. Soft, dark, or peeling fascia means water has been getting behind the gutter for a while.
Granules, shingle grit, or standing water in the trough
A trough full of grit or standing water after the rain has stopped points to a clog or a low spot in the run. Both keep the gutter from doing its one job, which is moving water off the roof and away from the house.
What is causing the problem
Clogged, undersized, or badly pitched gutters
Leaves and roof grit build up and block the flow, or the gutter itself is too small for the roof area feeding it, or it was hung with the wrong slope. Any one of these turns a working system into an overflow problem.
Hangers that have worked loose
Gutters held on spikes instead of hidden hangers tend to sag over time as the wood around the spike loosens. Once the pitch is off, water sits instead of draining.
Rotted fascia from long-term overflow
Once water gets behind the gutter repeatedly, the fascia board underneath softens and eventually stops holding fasteners at all. Rehanging a gutter into rotten fascia is a short-term fix that fails again fast.
A roof shedding more granules or debris than usual
A roof nearing the end of its life sheds more grit into the gutters than a newer one, which speeds up clogging. If that is what is happening, it is worth pairing gutter work with a look at the roof itself.
What to expect during the visit
We start by cleaning and flushing the gutters and downspouts so we can see exactly how the water is moving, or not moving, through the system. From there we check the pitch and confirm the downspouts are sized right for the roof area draining into them. If hangers have failed or the fascia behind the gutter has gone soft, we reset the hangers or replace the rotted board before we rehang anything, since hanging new gutters on bad fascia just sets up the same repair again. We walk you through what we found and what it takes to fix it before we get started.
Related services you may need
Gutter problems often trace back to the roof itself, so if we find granule loss, damaged flashing, or a section nearing the end of its life while we are up there, we will tell you. Roof Inspections and Roof Repair cover the roof side of things, and Roof Replacement is worth discussing if the shingles are driving the gutter wear.
The cost of waiting
A gutter that overflows a little today tends to overflow a lot next season, because the fascia behind it keeps absorbing water every time it happens. What starts as a cosmetic stain on the fascia board can turn into rot that spreads into the soffit and the ends of the rafters, and by then the fix is bigger than a gutter repair. Overflow at the foundation causes its own slow damage too, since water pooling against the house year after year is exactly what foundations and basement walls are not built to handle.
How do I know if my gutters need repair or full replacement?
It depends on what is failing. If the gutters themselves are sound but sagging, clogged, or misaligned, a repair usually solves it. If the fascia behind them has rotted or the gutters are too small for your roof, replacement of the gutter or the board behind it is usually the better long-term fix, and we will tell you which one applies during the inspection.
How much does gutter cleaning or repair cost in the Denver Metro?
Cost depends mainly on how much of the system needs work, whether the fascia behind the gutters has to be replaced, and whether the job includes leaf guards or just a cleaning and tune-up. We look at the whole run before quoting anything, so you know what you are paying for and why.
Do leaf guards actually stop gutters from clogging?
Leaf guards cut down on clogging significantly, especially from leaves and large debris, though they do not eliminate the need for occasional cleaning of fine grit and shingle granules. They are worth it on most homes surrounded by trees, and we can walk you through the options when we install or repair your gutters.
If your gutters are overflowing, sagging, or leaving stains on the fascia, call Precise Roofing at (720) 448-9988 to get it looked at. We serve homeowners across the Denver Metro and can tie the fix into a roof inspection if that is where the problem is starting.
