Wind damage roof repair, sealed for good.
High wind gets under a shingle's edge and breaks the seal that keeps it flat, and once that seal is gone it doesn't come back on its own. We inspect and repair wind damage across the Denver Metro, from a handful of loose shingles to a full slope that's come apart in a storm.
A free inspection with photos of every hit, so you know exactly what the storm did before you decide anything about a claim. No pressure, no adjuster games, just what's up there.

Why the timing matters after a storm
Insurance policies have a window to report storm damage, and hail bruising is easiest to document in the first few weeks before weather wears it in. An inspection now costs nothing and gives you dated photos either way.
High wind doesn't need to be a named storm to tear shingles loose, and Front Range gusts do it often. We inspect and repair wind-damaged roofs across the Denver Metro, checking every slope for lifted, creased, or missing shingles and any damage to the ridge cap. We've worked wind claims in this region for over 20 years and handle the insurance side of it alongside the repair itself. This page covers what wind damage looks like up close, why a creased shingle can't just be resealed, and what happens during the inspection.
Did a recent windstorm leave a few shingles loose or missing?
A few missing shingles are rarely the whole story. Wind gets under the leading edge of a shingle and either tears it off completely or creases it without removing it, and a creased shingle has broken its seal even though it's still nailed down. That means the roof can look mostly fine from the ground while several shingles nearby are no longer sealed and will leak in the next rain. The only way to know how far it spread is to walk the roof, slope by slope, and check the edges and the ridge.
Warning signs to watch for
Shingles missing along an edge or ridge
Wind attacks the weakest points first: eaves, rakes, and the ridge cap. Missing shingles in these spots often mean the surrounding shingles have also lost their seal, even if they're still in place.
Creased shingles that lie flat but look wavy
A creased shingle has been bent back and won't reseal on its own. It sits differently than the shingles around it and is one of the clearest wind-damage signs from a ladder.
Exposed nail heads
When a shingle lifts and doesn't fully tear off, the nail heads underneath can be left exposed to the weather. Exposed nails are a fast path to a leak at that exact spot.
Debris or shingle pieces in the yard
Torn shingle tabs on the ground or in the gutters after a windy day are a sign to check the roof, even if nothing looks obviously wrong from the driveway.
What is causing the damage
Wind lifting the shingle's leading edge
Once wind gets a finger under the tab, it works the seal loose the same way it would peel a sticker. A single strong gust can be enough to start the tear.
A weak or failed factory seal
Shingles seal to each other with a strip of adhesive that softens in the sun. On older roofs, that seal is already weaker, so it takes less wind to break it.
Ridge cap that wasn't fully sealed or nailed
The ridge is the highest and most wind-exposed part of the roof, so a ridge cap installed with a weak seal is often the first thing to go in a storm.
A roof that's already near the end of its service life
Aging shingles are more brittle and lift more easily than newer ones, so wind damage on an older roof is often a sign it's time to plan a replacement rather than another round of repairs.
What to expect during the visit
We walk every slope and lift-test the shingles along the edges and the ridge, since that's where wind damage concentrates first. We count creased, torn, and missing shingles and check the ridge cap for gaps or loose nailing. If the damage is widespread enough to support a claim, we document everything with photos as we go. From there, we either repair the affected shingles directly or, if the seals have failed across a large part of the roof, walk you through what a fuller repair or replacement would involve.
Related services you may need
If wind damage is scattered across the whole roof rather than isolated to one area, Roof Replacement may make more sense than a patchwork repair. When the damage is minor and localized, Roof Repair handles it directly. A Roof Inspections visit is the quickest way to find out which one fits.
The cost of waiting
A creased shingle doesn't reseal itself, and it won't seal back down in the next warm day either. Left alone, it opens a path for water on the very next rain, and each additional windstorm peels back more shingles nearby. What starts as a small, cheap repair right after the wind event can turn into water damage in the attic and decking by the time it's finally addressed, which almost always costs more to fix than the original wind damage did.
How much wind does it take to damage a roof?
It doesn't take a named storm. Gusts strong enough to lift a loose shingle edge, which can happen in an ordinary spring wind event along the Front Range, are enough to break a shingle's seal or tear it off entirely.
Can a creased shingle just be resealed instead of replaced?
Usually not. Once a shingle creases, the seal strip has broken and the shingle won't lie flat again, so the safer fix is replacing the individual shingle rather than trying to glue it back down.
Does insurance cover wind damage to a roof?
Most homeowner policies cover wind damage, though what's covered depends on your specific policy and how well the damage is documented. We photograph and document the damage and work directly with your insurance company through the claim.
